Hi
I have recently joined this forum so thought I'd post up details of my web site.
This has info on tours I've done in Italy since 1998, some info on English Lake District rides (where I live) and its also the home of 'Cycling before Lycra' - a look back at how it was here in the 1930's and 1940's for my parents.
The address is...

I certainly hope to come back to do the Hard Knott and Honister (and more climbs in GB) . It's a pitty that I couldn't climb those two killers in Cumbria because of a silly accident with my bike near Ambleside. Sad I had a serious knee injury and it was impossible to do 2 climbs on 1 day. One climb was allready a hell of a job!
I liked the area very much. Kind people, lovely landscape and beautifull clmbs!!

That's a real shame - as you know, Hardknott is just over the 'hill' from Wrynose Wink

Really has to be done from the other side though (Boot). That's the real tough side.

You'll have to get over and ride the Fred Whitton Challenge (112 miles). That'll give you Kirkstone, Honister, Hardknott and Wrynose on the BIG list, plus lots of others that aren't!

Oh, so sorry ! Yes, I'm; but it's of course the first job of all and the hardest (I had the wish to write the steepest) one. Does she love the challenge ? It's another question Razz Razz

Well, let's be serious ! I had a fantastic souvenir of the succession with Wrynose and Hard Knott Pass. Tremendous 1:3 gradients geek

A great souvenier indeed. I live nearby but still limit myself to riding Hardknott from Boot to 2-3 times a year - that is enough!

Perhaps you too should consider coming over for the Fred Whitton Challenge. It's a great event - run for charity and is regarded by many as the hardest sportif ride in the country. My friedn from Italy came over this year to ride it and thought it was beautiful.
I've done it 3 times now (the last time was a disaster and I really struggled). I think I may give it a rest next year. Once my friend is back to full fitness, I'm sure we'll do it again. We did it on a tandem and that was great fun - though Hardknott is brutally hard on a tandem Shocked

No, I didn't know that Daniel. Are there more details somewhere on the web site? I'll have no excuse not to attend will I Wink
I posted a message on a bike forum about this site the other day and I see that a few have signed up and started putting their claims in.
