| I think it's fantastic ! And the work too what you've done!
(maps, all of the climbs, and that every member can see his/her claims.)
I will enjoy upload photos, text to climbs.
CONGRATULATIONS!
PS: After it it was more simplier to make other hungarians join the BIG. (7 new in 2 days) :-) But as I seem a lot of others joined too :-)
It's a very good community :-)

| I'm enjoying looking at the new website. What is really useful are the maps that pinpoint the geographic positions exactly, right down to the road and street name where there is one. That's just great as before we had to find by latitude and longitude and was difficult without a good scale map suitable for walking / cycling. I must get round to sending my last years adventures soon. I don't have a website so if any of you have time and patience to teach a raw beginner how to do it then i would love to hear from you! By the way, where are all my British BIG colleagues? Come on get writing in! Join a great community! Kevin[img] | |

| All the sentences that you wrote go directly in my heart. It was a big big job, with plenty of questions, updatings. Of course, it's a 23 years'story for me. When you see the charts about the number of members, the new members a year were few until 2002. With the opening of my old website (the static one), we had about 80 new members a year. With the new website : 62 new members in 6 days, but it's the opening , that will obviously go down and slower, but well, it's good for the motivation. The comity has done a great job to help me those 3 last years. And Wouter made an uncredible work in december : I'm completely astonished about his capacities. Long life to the new website. I'll try as long as I'll be president, to keep the common spirit and to avoid the commercial attractions with the increasing of members. The best goal is Kevin and Gabor's sentences : a very good and great community. On my own, when someone new climbs with happiness, I'm happy. Life is simple like that... :-) | |

| It seems that mosts people upload tourist map details. I though also the same, I will do it too; it's a good ide - mainly on those regions about which the google map isn't enough detailled.

Gabor Do you mean the topographical maps? Well, daniel is busy with that. And I forget to exclude those maps from the 'last 7 images'. I know google maps aren't that perfect, but I will look after a kind of solution after my exams. I was thinking of an option in the profile where you could select the type of maps, but have to find out if that is possible. | |

| Thank you, Jerry ! Not so quick ! 15 years in papersheets at home, with friends to compile the topographic maps, to read the books for each country; with postal mails to find guys passionated in other countries. 7 years and 11 months to include the papersheets in my computer, manage an international organizer group ! 20 guys international committee working since 5 years to make it credible, the less criticable as possible, with battles about the choices, debates about the structures and the managing,... 4 still more passionated guys working on excel files for the datas and on GPS for the maps'coordinates. And finally and above all ...1 month of completely crazy job from Wouter with his talent, his courage and his capacity to learn the aim of the challenge and to hear what we wished. It's a personal 23 long years ago baby, but it's now a fantastic final group's job. | |

| Each contributing member (and you're one, Gabor ), can see those topographic maps in each BIG's file. Go to the superlist, click on one BIG, in the menus up the pages, you've a menu called "topo", click on it and you'll see the topographic map of the top of this BIG. It's only a sheet of topo reduced to the neighbourhood of the top. In the links, you've also links to all the topographic maps available online in Europe. | |

| Just a suggestion. I think it would be useful to let users make comments about the news in the website. Better registered users than any visitor (for the spam). | |

| Hi, Gabór. I've watched your videos to plan my travel in August : impressive and enthusiastic ! Please, be careful to use Mozilla Firefox to upload news because sometimes Internet explorer has some Bugs for those editions. It's bad if big has bug | |

| Do you know, it's better to use Int Explorer ? Did I understand well ? (I use Explorer)
In Slovakia for me Sitno was a nice experience :-) with the panorama and the steepness (on short section).
Skalka is not too interesting, only the nature itself; there is no panorama, only to the peak.

| Subject: the age of people isn't good in the classifications 31-40 Sun Jul 12, 2009 8:41 pm | |
| Hello !
Sorry, but I just realised that there are older people than 40 in the calssifications between 30 and 40. Look ! For example: DEMAESSCHALCK Patrick who was born in 1968-05-25 (41 years old !) or DECOSTRE Arnaud who was born in 11-06-1969 and now it's JUly 2009.
Maybe the database / classification isn't updated itself well.
Thanks: Gabor | |

| Is there some follow-up work planned for the Challenge-BIG website? I have some points/suggestions if there is work planned: -The search function in the upper-right of the screen does not work (at least not in my Chrome or IE browser, on my smartphone it does work!) -It’s a pity that there is still no option to share “notes” with others. Especially for the more exotic/remote BIGs it would be helpful to share info on the condition of the road, acces points, where to rent a bike, ect. -On the initial map of Europe, Bulgaria is with Russia, Rumania, Poland etc in zone 10, while in fact Bulgaria is part of zone 11 (Balkans) -On the former site there was a personal statistics graph, with the number of claims you did per year. It would be nice if this feature could return. -Maybe an extra Users/Membres->classement could be added with a ranking of the number of countries people claimed BIGs in (Etienne Mayeur would be above Eric Lucas). -Option to share/compare times per climb (personally not very high priority). -On members personal site it states: “Longest BIG” (often Galibier or Nufenenpass), this does not take into account the side you took. For instance for the Nufenenpass, the Western side is only 14 km’s… -There is a Facebook group for the Challenge BIG. This is good for promotion, but if it is not managed, it gets full of spam (as it is now) and might work anti-promotional. I mailed some of these point to Wouter (webmaster@challenge-big.eu) last October, but did not get a reaction. I know he does the webmaster work voluntarily, so no rush or critique, just some suggestions. Keep up the good work! Greeting, Joost | |

| Subject: GPS Waypoints and POI Wed Nov 09, 2011 11:28 pm | |
| Hello, From my Cent Cols data base I have created a liste of waypoints for the 951 BIGs with coordonates . The file is less than one megabyte in gpx or gpi formats and, I could upload it if you show any interest and... if I know how to upload. Waypoints or POI would offer a service similar to track sharing without burden. It would works great on GPS with routable map. Mago77 | |
