The story:
Our tour was presented and listed in a tour calendar and we publicized it in 2 cycling forums. Previous evening on the BIG forum we knew that we will be there about ca. 22 + max 10 people.
As I arrived to the meeting point by 9 degrees Celsius I was very much surprised: a lot of cyclists! We were 62 of us with 2 guys who joined 10 kms later. I + Gábor Kreicsi told them 5 minutes spech about the BIG and then we started.
We cycled first along the Danube, then through the tourist town, Szentendre and then the ascent started by the open air museum. WE cycled 80% of the climbs on calm paved forestry roads, so we could talk with each other, I took video (upload tomorrow) and we could cycle 4-5 people next to each other.
Unfortunately the front of the pack hurried, so we remained at the back of those who could reach Dobogókő in time. We had wonderful spring weather in the forest, so enjoyed very much. Because after the 1st climb we waited for almost the last participant it seemed that we could reach Dobogókő in time, but 10 of us arrived there a little bit late, but our 1st purpose was to arrive there together!
(a very few people wasn't enough good form, so they arrived much later, but they got certificate from Gabor too. )
Ca. 10 cyclists who hurried left Dobogókő before the bike lifting, but ca 50 of us we did it before videocamera + photomachine.
A few people told us that they say thank for the tour and organising it, and then Gabor gave certificate to each of them.
After it, the cyclists went where they wanted.
Our day was superb and as we spoke about it with Gabor, we knew:
that was the 1st step of a tradition. We will organise such a tour in every year, but maybe not so early, maybe in May.
(exception: the 30th anniversary.: 21th March 2015)
I don't know if the other BIG members know, but the participants of the Critical Mass in Budapest grew so much that last year the hungarian Crital Mass had I think 15000 participant (Most of the cyclists in the town), so maybe not so surprise what we experienced.
THis evening 5 people sent us mails / or forum psts and said thanks for the tour that they enjoyed very much :-)
Stat: Gábor Kreicsi has the stat : how many BIG members participated and how many were who are not members, but I think minimum 16 members we had there.
our photoalbum (Gabor's pics will be uploaded tomorrow)
