Change 2009 - CH3 El Almaden

Part of the climb is on a private and forbidden road. Gravel road.
La Pandera should be a good one to change but cyclists need to got the key of the gate at local authorities (attention for opening hours and opening days) see pictures 9 on altimetrias website (ver mas fotos))

Une partie de cette ascension se situe sur une route privé interdite. Muletier.
La pandera serait un bon remplacement mais il faut aller chercher la clé de la porte à l'administration locale (attention aux jours et heures d'ouverture) voir le site Altimetrias photo 9 (ver mas fotos)

Didn't enjoy the climb up El Almadan in June this year because it's rough gravel and roadworks just south of Mancha Real. Not a favourite pass with me! Looking at the Michelin map Pandera is a scenic route though I've not been up it. For pleasure and scenery better to replace El Almadan

Ne jouissent pas de l'ascension de El Almadan en Juin de cette année parce que c'est gros gravier et les travaux routiers au sud de Mancha Real. Pas un passage préféré avec moi! En regardant la carte Michelin Pandera est une route panoramique si je n'ai pas été jusqu'à lui. Pour le plaisir et le paysage mieux remplacer El Almadan

I think it should be analysed. In fact, there is a new road that climbs to the top of a mountain, pretty close from El Almadén: El Yelmo inside a Natural Park too: http://www.altimetrias.net/aspbk/verPerfilusu.asp?id=721. I think El Yelmo or La Pandera look as the most interesting climbs, but requires a bit of time.

La route est bien une route privée.
C'est une belle ascension , très dure qui marquera ceux qui l'ont gravie.
Nous avons eu de la chance que la grille de la propriété privée soit ouverte. Dans le cas contraire nous n'aurions pas tenté le diable.
Il me paraît dès lors plus correct de la supprimer par celle que Daniel propose car au vu des photos il semble très beau.

Langzaam begint de weg weer te stijgen. Op weg naar de top passeren we vele veeroosters. Op een gegeven moment staat er zelfs een bordje ‘verboden toegang’ wegens privé bezit. We fietsen toch maar door en een kilometer verder rijden we het privé gebied weer uit. Dit tweede deel van de klim is het stijgingspercentage vrij constant. Met een aantal haarspeldbochten slingert de weg tegen de helling omhoog. Met de toerfiets is het goed te doen, voor een racefiets is deze klim ongeschikt. Het uitzicht op het dorpje Torres en de ruige toppen van de Sierra Magina is schitterend. Plotseling zien we dat de zendmasten niet ver meer zijn. We draaien nog eenmaal helemaal om de berg heen voordat we de top bereiken.

Muletier, complet 1 km après Mancha Real, gros % pendant 4-5 kms, puis montée-descente et 8-9 derniers kilomètres plus francs. Caillasse assurée. A +/- 6kms du sommet, interdiction formelle de poursuivre (chemin privé, passage interdit à tout personne).

Il parait que c'est en effet fermé., Il y a 4 cyclistes qui m'ont repondu, et tous sont passé a gauche de la porte fermée.

Tu peux voir qu'il y a un trou de 40cm de largeur, et par là en passant le velo en haut, ils sont tous passés. Il faut dire qu'il faut lever le velo exactement comme on le fera le 21eme Mars dans le BIGday, parce que le velo ne passe pas par le trou.
Ce n'est pas interdit pour les velos. C'est interdit pour les voitures.
Alors je pense que c'est vraiment à la limite de ce qe l'on peux accepter. Mais c'est a vous de decider. J'ai envoyé a Daniel quelques alternatives mais je trouve que celle-ci serait encore meilleur. C'est une des 10 montées des plus dures d'Espagne. Peña Escrita:

Pour: C'est tranquile, Il y a un parc animalier au long des derniers 2Km. Cést bien d'y aller en famille. C'est pas mal turistique. Deviendrait le 484 et il se trouve prés du 485 (Cabra Montés). C'est tres tres dure (regarder les details sur mon profil jaune).

Contre: Rien pour une course des profis, ce n'est pas tres beau (voir les fotos), c'est meconnue en Espagne, ce n'est pas un parc naturel.

A mon avis, c'est plus dure et bien plus interesant que La Pandera. Bien que la Vuelta est allé a La pandera et ira jamais à Peña Escrita.

Si vous voulais voir plus de photos ( j'en ai 50!) ou plus de details, il ne faut que le dire.

You can see that there is a hole 40cm in width, and thereby passing the bike up, they are all gone. It must be said that we must lift the bike just as you would on 21st March in the BIGday because the bike does not pass through the hole.
This is not prohibited for bicycles. It is forbidden for cars.
So I think that's really the limit of that qe is not accept. But it's up to you. I sent Daniel a few alternatives but I think it would be even better. This is one of 10 of the hardest climbs in Spain. Peña Escrita:

YES: It's quiet, there is a wildlife park over the last 2km. Cest many families go there. Not bad Tourist. Become the 484 and it is located near the 485 (Cabra Montes). It's very hard (see details on my profile yellow).

NO: There is no race for profis, is not very beautiful (see photos), is unknown in Spain, not a park.

In my opinion, it is harder and more interesant that La Pandera. Although the Vuelta has gone to the Pandera and will never Peña Escrita.

If you wanted to see more pictures (I'm 50!) Or more details, it must be said.

Cycling on private forbidden roads is not where BIG stands for, neither do I get a right feeling by La Pandera, when you have to collect a key. Has anyone more information about Puerto del Sol?

Yes, but what happens if someone goes to El Almaden and that local authority prevent access

He/she preserves the right to claim a BIG as it is - from the floor to the closed gate. It makes the climb short but gives some time for better decision to choose an alternative. Only Malga Palazzo was closed on real beginning this climb seems to be closed in the middle part...

each one has a new propositions for substitution.

I beleive we have to choose between propositions made by Leading Comitee (Daniel, Helmuth and Christian).
Proposition was La Pandera but I see on picture 9 and on 1st page of Altimetrias that there is a closed gate and that we have to collect the key before climbing. After this, Leading Comitee make a new proposition (also from Altimetrias) with Puerto del Sol.

may be we have to ask this to Leading Comitee

El Almaden have a forbidden part with a gate often or sometimes open
Pandera is authorised but we need the key for the gate
Puerto del Sol is authorised with no key

El Almaden possède une partie interdite avec une barrière pafois voir souvent ouverte
Pandera est authorisé mais il faut aller chercher la clé
Puerto del Sol est autorisé sans barrière, ni clé
